Scott Burdick and Holly Ogden of Wiseman & Gale Interiors (wisemanandgale.com) reveal what makes them tick—and share their latest design inspirations.

“Wiseman & Gale has been a collective of interior designers and craftsmen for over 60 years now,” says Holly Ogden, who serves as a principal designer and partner at the firm. “There’s a visual history of timeless, interesting interiors that follows the trajectory of the Southwest.” Ogden, who started as an intern, works closely with managing partner Scott Burdick—whose own mother, Patty Burdick, also interned at W&G when Scott was in high school. “I remember her long nights studying and us kids helping her with her design projects,” he says.

Although Burdick is not officially a designer (“I’m not a designer. I run a design firm,” he says), he has a great love of interior design, something that plays into his role at the company. “I have a split personality that’s 50-50 analytical and creative,” says Burdick, who often sources art and antiques for projects and serves as an extra set of eyes on all things. “So this job is perfect for me—I do both in my day to day.”

“Scott and I have known each other for over 20 years now. We’re very familiar with each other’s personalities and working habits around the studio,” Ogden shares. “We have a similar ethos or approach to design and both carry a great amount of respect for the history and individuals that have formed Wiseman & Gale to the design studio it is today. As business partners, we often need to problem-solve and collaborate, or the reverse, and hunker down in our respective roles,” she adds. “When we do collaborate on design, we don’t always gravitate to the same things, which makes things interesting. When there’s crossover, we know we’re on to something.”

Currently, the firm is busy working on several projects, including new builds in Arcadia and Paradise Valley, an ongoing ranch project in Jackson, Wyo., and much more.
