CMC Group founder Ugo Colombo knows exactly why Bay Harbor Islands is prime for a luxury residential property with boutique appeal. “It’s Miami’s best-kept secret,” says the developer. “Surrounded by South Florida’s finest shopping, beaches and schools, the area is synonymous with an upscale, family-oriented lifestyle that appeals to buyers from across the country and around the world.”

It’s with those buyers in mind that Colombo and Morabito Properties CEO Valerio Morabito are developing Onda, an eight-story tower that boasts more than 300 feet of bay frontage, direct ocean access through the Haulover Inlet and million-dollar views of Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic. With 41 residences ranging from 1,809 to 3,525 square feet in size (two to four bedrooms) and four penthouses (two of which include private rooftop pool decks) boasting up to 5,703 square feet of space, Onda is the type of second-or-third-home investment well-heeled buyers from less tax-friendly states are flocking to these days. It’s a client type that both Colombo and Morabito (who previously partnered in 2016 for Beach House 8 in Miami Beach) know and cater to rather well.

For proof, look no further than the architect tapped to bring the project to life: Bernardo Fort-Brescia of Miami’s Arquitectonica. “Bernardo is a world-class architect who lives and breathes Miami,” says Morabito. “He knows how to translate the tropical beauty of this incredible city into design, and that’s what he did with Onda, which reflects the movement of the water and the beauty of the bay into the building’s facade with its undulating balconies.”

The rest of the design team is just as accomplished: Carlo and Paolo Colombo of A++ Human Sustainable Architecture for interiors and Enzo Enea of Enea Garden Design for green outdoor spaces. “We wanted Miami’s tropical spirit to come together with an Italian sense of style and elegance,” adds Morabito. “I believe we’ve achieved that through these great collaborations.”

Priced from $1.8 million to more than $8 million, Onda’s amenities reveal its target buyer’s love for the good life. When completed in 2023, the building will house a rooftop pool deck and lounge area, a fitness center with Technogym equipment, a yoga studio and a spa with steam and sauna rooms. A private marina for exclusive use by the residents will feature multiple boat slips and a water sports launch dock with kayaks, paddleboards and inflatables. Residential features include FTTH technology for voice, video and high-speed internet, impact-resistant glass doors and windows, spacious tiled gardens, private and semiprivate elevators, open-floor layouts with up to 9-foot ceiling heights, Snaidero kitchens with Miele appliances, bathrooms clad in Italian marble and wood cabinetry throughout the units.

“We have always imagined a place immersed in nature, an oasis of peace and tranquility,” says Morabito. “That’s what Onda is, a unique location that makes life easy and filled with memories.” Sales gallery: 10301 E. Bay Harbor Drive, Bay Harbor Islands, 305.334.1234, ondaresidences.com
