Bellyard in West Midtown awakens the area’s industrial spirit through midcentury modern design and stellar amenities.
A reflection of timeworn independence and wide-open possibilities, the brand-new West Midtown haunt Bellyard, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, has proven it belongs in the neighborhood. Located in multiuse development The Interlock among stylish storefronts, incubator offices and luxury real estate residences, Bellyard offers respite for both travelers and locals looking for a luxury stay with a taste of Atlanta’s industrial history. Its moniker derived from the original name of West Midtown, “Bellwood,” and “stockyard,” a structure that held a large historical presence in the area, Bellyard is located down the road from where four Atlanta railroad lines once converged. The idea is that the hotel can become a modern convergence point for Atlanta culture, lifestyle, tech and commerce. From Three P Partners, the people behind Hotel Bella Grace in Charleston and Hyatt House Atlanta/ Downtown, Bellyard features 161 guest rooms and suites furnished in a sleek and organically modern style with advanced technology, plush beds and walk-in showers, and special Japanese soaking tubs in the suites. Designed by Nelson Worldwide LLC of Alpharetta, the hotel’s interiors continue to evoke the area’s industrial spirit, with urban passenger cars serving as an inspiration for some of the design elements. “Paying homage to the early 1900s, thoughtfully curated moments that honor the time period were incorporated into the space, including stockyard-inspired artwork, ‘branded’ room numbers, cowhide rugs, railroad-inspired ceiling beams and plenty of playful winks to the history including small gold cows showcased in each guest room,” says Alex Campbell, SE regional hospitality practice leader at Nelson Worldwide. “Overall, Bellyard is a destination that reflects the region’s unique perspective and ignites curiosity in all those that visit.”

In addition to its lovely accommodations, Bellyard’s food and beverage concepts are meant to wow and bring together the most likely, or unlikely, of guests. Drawbar is Bellyard’s main restaurant, serving elevated bar noshes, plates and libations, and features a large open-air terrace with jaw-dropping views of the Atlanta skyline. After an evening wellrested, head to Saint Germain French Bakery, an outpost of Ponce City Market’s charming patisserie, for a fresh, handmade croissant and a cappuccino or espresso. “Drawbar’s cocktails feature locally sourced ingredients and fruit syrups that are made in-house from scratch. Our summer cocktails are light and complement our Southern fresh menu,” says Brendan Abraham, Bellyard’s general manager. “Guests will enjoy outdoor seating on our terrace with city skyline views and communal seating in the lobby lounge area. They can spend their evening unwinding in our Den next to the fireplace, reading a book in The Study or enjoying a handcrafted cocktail in the Living Room.” Additionally, the hotel features approximately 7,000 square feet of spacious indoor-outdoor event space, a 24-hour fitness center complete with Pelotons, and a nearby rooftop bar and pool managed by Slater Hospitality set to open next year. 1 Interlock Ave. NW, bellyardhotel.com
