THE PROJECT

The 800-acre Silo Ridge development in Amenia has been lauded as one of the most lavish and exclusive residential enclaves in the country. So when a client called on designer Shelley Cekirge to work on their recently purchased property, she couldn’t wait to get started. “I was particularly excited about this project because working on ground-up construction with some of my favorite clients is an amazing opportunity,” Cekirge says. She had already worked on two previous projects with this young family, which helped streamline the process. “The clients have excellent taste and wanted to create a home-away-from-home that would be elegant, elevated and filled with life, youth and color,” Cekirge adds.

THE DESIGN

The color palette is nothing short of captivating. From the Roche Bobois Shark Bay rug in the living room to the Nagano Steel Blue Holly Hunt wallpaper in the family room, cool blue hues are woven among emerald, gold, gray and neutral tones. “They want a space that feels elevated and fresh but also comfortable and inviting,” Cekirge says. The soaring living room windows that frame the serene views of Silo Ridge’s rolling hills feature custom motorized Lutron Shades, adding a tasteful, functional element to the tailored space.

THE DETAILS

The walls throughout the entryway and first-floor living areas are decorated with a rich pearlescent gray custom Venetian Plaster to help bring the outside in and emphasize the breathtaking vistas. “In a house of this size, with clients who want highly personalized spaces without plain white walls, a clear investment will be wallcoverings,” Cekirge adds. “We worked with everyone from Lutron to Dedar to Holly Hunt to Weitzner to make sure the home was completely personal and that each room was functional and elegant.”

THE OUTCOME

“It is always incredible to have a vision, to share that with a client through renderings, and then to walk into the home at the end of the process and see how it all comes to life,” says Cekirge.

The clients gave Cekirge creative freedom and trust, so before coming to their home, the designer had already ordered and installed everything to create their tranquil sanctuary. “The first time we worked together, I told them it would be like Fixer Upper and they would walk in and see the whole home transformed,” she added. “It is so rewarding to work with people who trust me enough to let me do the work and then just show up for the magical world created at the end of the process.”
