It’s a collaboration that’s easy to love. Schumacher (fschumacher.com), one of the world’s foremost purveyors of luxury wallcovering, has added DC designer and artist Hadiya Williams to its impressive roster of collaborators. Williams, the founder of U Street’s Black Pepper Paperie Co. (blackpepperpaperie.com), produces a range of mixed media pieces. Her studio creates ceramics, home decor, paper goods and apparel. Williams’ work finds its inspiration in Black culture and history, especially as it relates to a rich collective memory. The new collection from Schumacher and Williams pulses with color and rhythm, feeling at once modern and derived from a rich and celebrated history. Each of the design’s names—from Tangent to fireshold—evokes Williams’ unending love of storytelling. The dreamy patterns, marked by both delicate and bold curves, will breathe new life into a room. Let the new tales begin!
