Always possessing an affinity for design, Rebecca Salcito of Salcito Design Group (salcito.com) moved to Scottsdale a few months after graduating from Moore College of Art & Design in Philadelphia. Although she started her career as a graphic designer, her second job as a visual designer at an upscale home boutique in the Biltmore area catapulted her toward where she is today. “Clients came into the store and would ask if I could make their homes look as beautiful as the store,” Salcito shares. “I realized I loved interiors more than graphic design and fell in love with the design process while working on my first home.” For the past two decades, Salcito has been creating luxurious interiors for custom homes throughout the most exclusive communities in Scottsdale, Paradise Valley and Northern Arizona, as well as out-of-state mountain towns. “Salcito Design Group has evolved into a full-service interior design firm, currently working primarily on newly built custom home projects and large-scale renovation projects,” says the designer, whose own personal tastes lean toward “light-filled spaces with pops of color or textural drama. I love to create moody, intimate spaces that can be found within an overall lighter context,” she adds. “I like texture, and I love natural materials. Wood, marble, silk, alpaca, crystal. Overall, I want the spaces I create to feel like a glamorous hug!” Look out for lots from Salcito and her team, including modern mountain-style homes in Northern Arizona, a reimagining of an iconic European-style estate in Silverleaf, and several new-build custom home projects throughout North Scottsdale. Here, the stylish—and busy!—designer shares the decor and fashion items on her current hit list.
