Platt Cabinetry may seem like a new kid on the block, but cabinetmaking is at the root of the Platt story. Halsey Platt began building cabinetry in his barn in Groton, Massachusetts, in 1992, and when homeowners needed someone to build the kitchen around the cabinetry he had crafted, he stepped up and became the builder. Fast forward over thirty years - and thousands of home renovation projects later as both builder and cabinetmaker – the time has come for Platt Cabinetry to stand alone.

“Platt Cabinetry is a high-end, residentially-focused cabinet company. We are fully custom and we do all of the work in-house from fabrication to finish,” says Steve Adam, Director of Platt Cabinetry. “We also do all of our own installation,” he says.

The 14,000sf cabinet and millwork shop hums daily with activity as the twelve-person team moves each project through the elaborate process eventually stopping as a team to assemble a client’s kitchen and mudroom. “Prior to final finishing, we assemble every project in-house as a quality control measure making sure that every detail has been correctly executed. Once the entire team has signed off on the project, it moves to finishing,” says Adam. Design professionals and clients are welcome to see their cabinetry in production.

Exceptional quality begins with exceptional raw materials and processes that respect the craft. “We source the best and most consistent materials because we care about the end product,” says Adam. “We have forged relationships with vendors who stand behind their products so that we can stand behind ours. We have vetted materials that can handle the abuse of daily life and are most resilient to seasonal changes.” Platt Cabinetry withstands the test of time because of this ethos.

Platt’s high standards remain intact whether the cabinetry is paint-grade or stain-grade. Platt has committed to using hard maple for paint-grade cabinetry because it is simply a better product that lasts longer. For stain-grade cabinetry, the team collaborates with design partners to honor the artistry of wood, like grain matching. It is this dedication to craftsmanship, quality, and design that endears Platt Cabinetry to designers and architects.

Platt Cabinetry’s capabilities are endless. “Working with design professionals pushes us to craft outside the box. We want to build cabinetry beyond imagination. If a designer can imagine it, we want to build it.” To be truly custom means that every box is built to the exact specifications of a client's space. There are no pre-made parts of Platt Cabinetry: each component is built on purpose. This level of bespoke craftsmanship adds a level of exclusivity to the Platt name.

Platt Cabinetry provides all of the cabinetry for Platt Builders’ projects as well as cabinetry for other architect, designer, or client projects. “It is exciting to have designers push the envelope of design in projects and to have our cabinetry be a part of those spaces is why we do what we do. We thrive on that creativity,” adds Adam.
