Four Seasons Hotel Boston reveals their newly renovated Royal Suite.
Enjoy sparkling city views while enjoying a meal in the chic dining room
For many cultures, a front door coated in Prussian blue was a welcoming sign to travelers, offering a safe haven inside. This color is now splashed across the Four Seasons Hotel Boston’s (fourseasons.com/boston) Royal Suite—the city’s ultimate hideaway. A year-long gut renovation of the 2,590-square-foot one-bedroom pied à terre was finally completed in August, draping the space in contemporary furnishings and classic architectural details. “Our inspiration was the great townhomes of our Back Bay and South End neighborhoods, which marry Boston’s architectural tradition with modern comfort and luxury,” says Tyler Youngblood of Niemitz Design Group, who designed the space with the hotel’s creative director Jim Peters. “The blue works in the space to beautifully frame views of the garden, and the use of blue throughout the suite complements the green of the plantings and the iconic views of Beacon Hill beyond.” Upon stepping inside, leaving becomes the only challenge guests will face. Find serenity in the 729-square-foot great room, featuring a deep velvet blue sectional sofa, a marble fireplace and a four-seat marble bar. Top-shelf spirits and a martini tray with Coterie gin, custom-distilled for the hotel by Everett’s Short Path Distillers, are sure to awaken your inner mixologist.

While Boston’s many award-winning cocktail bars and restaurants beckon, the Royal Suite may ignite your inner hostess. Throw lavish dinner parties in the 12-seat dining room adorned with grasscloth walls, blue-painted molding, a gold-veined ceiling and dramatic pendant lamps. After indulging, hit the town or hunker down in the cinema room boasting deep blue velvet banquettes, leather lounge chairs, stocked theater treats and a custom Bang & Olufsen entertainment system. Midnight snacks live in the pantry kitchen filled with complimentary beverages, an espresso maker, Smeg appliances and tasty Bostonmade cookie jar snacks. When a deep slumber calls, the seven-foot by seven-foot Wyoming King bed answers, enveloped in custom linens.

As a new day dawns, refreshed eyes are met with breathtaking views of the Public Garden, thanks to the perfectly positioned bed. “It’s truly a sanctuary within a sanctuary,” notes Youngblood of the bedroom. Freshen up in the marble bathroom and dressing room before enjoying a cup of coffee on the step-out balcony overlooking the garden. Glimpses of the city are never far away, whether one chooses to relax outside or glance out the suite’s expansive windows. “All the living spaces face the Public Garden and showcase magnificent views, which are like works of art that change with the seasons,” shares Youngblood.
