Michelle Gerson Interiors’ latest project in Old Westbury features a vintage meets pop aesthetic.
THE PROJECT
Michelle Gerson of Michelle Gerson Interiors centered her latest home revamp around an intriguing blend of modern and vintage aesthetics with a splash of pop art. The clients, a vibrant young couple with two daughters and three dogs, sought a home transformation to accommodate their growing needs while reflecting their unique style.
THE DESIGN
From the get-go, this design project was a family affair, thanks to the clients being relatives of another happy customer. With that built-in trust and easygoing vibe, the collaboration felt more like a family reunion than a renovation. What started as a simple plan to add a couple of bedrooms and bathrooms soon spiraled into a full-blown home makeover. The result? An expansive kitchen, family room, brand-new garage, front patio, and three bedrooms and bathrooms.

THE DETAILS
The clients’ love for art was the show’s star, setting the stage for a space that’s “fresh, cool, and a dash of vintage charm.” A vintage sofa given a modern twist, paired with groovy 1970s glass coffee and side tables, became instant conversation starters. Even though the project was a biggie, it flowed like a dream, thanks to the perfect match between the client’s vision and the design team’s creativity, plus the contractors who rolled with the punches.

Every aspect of the home reflects Gerson’s vintage modern pop style, combining deep tones with bold bursts of color.
THE OUTCOME
This home is the perfect mashup of modern vibes and vintage charm crafted to fit the lives and styles of those living there. It’s designed to grow and change right along with them. This project was a reminder that when you mix collaboration with a shared vision, you get magic—a home that’s practical and a fun, personal expression of the client’s one-of-a-kind taste.
Michelle Gerson created a playful yet practical girl’s bedroom, using Mitchell Black’s Desert Rose Mural, a rug from Carpet & Design and a Jimmy Martin bed, among other designs.
