THE PROJECT
One step inside this residence affectionately dubbed Casa Lighthouse—perched high above the SoFi District of Miami Beach—and immediately two pieces catch your eye as much as the unparalleled views of the Atlantic Ocean, Biscayne Bay and Miami’s skyline: a pair of gradient artworks by New York-based Brazilian artist Theo Pinto that depict the transition from sunrise to sunset. “These pieces not only celebrate Miami’s ever-changing skies but also bring warmth and depth to the main entertaining space, seamlessly interacting with the surrounding views and light throughout the day,” says Max Guidon of Guidon Studio (guidonstudio.com), who worked hand-in-hand with Pinto’s studio to commission these pieces for the project.

They join a curation of works from the homeowners’ collection and art discovered during Art Basel, adding personal touches that celebrate the serene yet dynamic locale and resonate with the home’s design narrative. “Every decision, from the material selection to the furniture layout, was made to enhance functionality and create harmony between the interiors and their surroundings,” says Guidon. With the help of the late Michael Gagner of Creara Company, Guidon resurfaced key areas of the apartment, creating a canvas so the residence could experience its glow-up.

THE INSPIRATION
Staying true to the home’s location in the heart of Miami Beach, Guidon found inspiration in the art deco movement, opting for bold colors, geometric shapes and sleek lines. “We incorporated Brazilian walnut panels in a pinnacle profile to cover the main accent wall, providing texture and radiating warmth to the main entertaining room,” he says. “Other elements, such as rugs and furnishings, draw directly from this spiky aesthetic. The palette pulls from Miami’s natural elements—ocean blues, sandy tones and lush greenery—layered with bold accents like burnt orange and teal to create a dynamic yet cohesive composition.”

THE DESIGN
An existing, playful kidney-shaped island in the kitchen with a teal base and waterdrop-patterned top aligned with this direction, but Guidon elevated the space with custom shelving and a backsplash rendered in bookmatched Amalfi Blanco marble. Furnishings from brands like Minotti, Holly Hunt, Tacchini, Etel, DWR and Roche Bobois give the design a chic and tailored feel, with seating by design icons Patricia Urquiola and Patrick Norguet on behalf of Cassina.

“Blending the homeowners’ existing pieces with new design elements was challenging but rewarding,” Guidon says. “This required balancing different aesthetics while ensuring the space felt updated and cohesive. The process became an opportunity to tell a story through design while honoring pieces with sentimental value.”
THE OUTCOME
Casa Lighthouse is a physical manifestation of Guidon Studio’s design ethos, which harmoniously weaves together functionality with artistic expression. Even the rug in the study/office, a collaboration with Art+Loom, brings an artful moment underfoot. “Every space is meticulously curated to reflect the client’s lifestyle while embracing Miami’s vibrant and dynamic essence,” Guidon says. “At the heart of our approach is a commitment to openness—eschewing rigid adherence to a single style in favor of a design narrative that evolves organically from our clients’ vision. Each room serves as a chapter in this story, blending aesthetics and practicality in a way that feels both elevated and authentic.”
