How would you best describe your aesthetic?

As I continue to grow in my design career, I strive to take it to the next level by incorporating modern flair with bold pops of color and texture.

Tell me about the source of inspiration for your new oasis.

It was paramount for us to create a sanctuary where both of us are present and profoundly embraced. A space that celebrates not only who we are but everything that brought us here.

Can you elaborate on what you loved most regarding the final result for your home?

Throughout the years, I have paid attention to what I have created for others and what I wanted for myself and my partner in our home. Our living room is my take on Maximalist design, and it embraces us after a long day. We surround ourselves with everything that makes us happy.

Tell me about the creative vision behind your living room wall.

Our wall concept was inspired by a movie clip from “The Broken Hearts Galley.” (I love romantic comedies.) The backdrop is an accent wall painted in the “Daily Greens” shade by Claire Paint. The area rug is from CB2’s “Black In Design Collective,” featuring designer Forbes and Master’s nod to Black hair, and is an artistic expression of cornrows. The canopy bed is from CB2, and the SunDial is a headboard that we repurposed as art procured from Urban Outtters. Our accent chair is from Four Hands.

What is your favorite room to design on a project?

For me, the living room is the heart of the home. You’re typically close to the kitchen but get to lounge in that favorite chair or sofa for me. I love a great couch and a comfy throw.
