The Project

A newer couple aiming to cohesively marry their unique personal styles in a penthouse unit atop One Bennett Park, the clients had struck out with a previous designer and reached out to DGI Design x Build. Notes design director and co-owner Devon Wegman (who partners with her husband Michael in the studio), “They wanted their home to feel one of a kind and have a hospitality vibe so that every day in the home feels like a luxurious experience. The bedroom was designed to feel like a high-end hotel but with a unique, personal touch. The biggest challenge, if you can call it that, was designing a bedroom that felt calm and serene yet had enough of an impressive aesthetic to compete with the incredible penthouse views of the city.”

The Detail

“I’m most proud of the details you don’t see,” notes Wegman. “The custom headboard was designed to feel integrated into the room as if it was always there, which meant taking cues from the architecture of the room to drive the datum lines. The mirrors were integrated into the headboard to carry the view of the lake into the room further and create a floating feeling. Lastly, the nightstands were designed with a hidden access panel at the top, so that the homeowners can plug chargers into an outlet hidden behind the nightstand drawer and pull the cords out onto their nightstand without having any clutter visible.”

The Outcome

Sums up Wegman, “The clients love the home so much that we’ve since worked on two other properties for them.”
