Best Family Residence Winners: DGI Design x Build, 360 Design Studio, Merrion Development, Lux Design Group
Preparing for a move to their first single-family home, a client turns to DGI Design x Build to craft a stylish, personal design and full turn-key install—with stunning results.
The kitchen pops with Schwung’s Soap 6 DT light fixture, Atrium white quartzite island and counters from Global Marble & Granite Importers and West Elm mid-century swivel counter stools.
The Project
Helping a client make the move from condo to fully furnished single-family home can require serious design savvy, but for one recent Lincoln Park project, Devon Wegman of DGI Design x Build and her collaborators, architects 360 Design Studio, builders Merrion Development Group and designers Lux Design Group, were more than up to the task. “The client’s main priority was to create a home that was both inviting and good for entertaining, yet peaceful and comfortable to relax in after long work weeks,” Wegman explains. “It was important to make the house feel cohesive yet give each room its own identity and vibe.” The main challenge Wegman and team faced? Time. “We were contracted to do all the furniture and decor for the house, and we started the project in June 2023 with a target completion date of October 2023 (though construction ended up taking until February 2024). Our team had everything ready to go when construction was completed, getting it all set up and installed in one day as soon as the final construction cleaning was done.”
A pair of Sunpan Zancor lounge chairs add flair to the front living room.
In the family room/great room, a sleek New York lounge chair by Saba from Casa Spazio, rug from Oscar Isberian Rugs and Sherwin-Williams wall paint in Iron Ore combine with striking wall paneling designed by Erika Conway of Lux Design Group and fabricated onsite by Merrion Development.
The Details
Reflecting on the finished product, Wegman is proudest of the first-floor living room and family room, noting, “Both have really cohesive palettes yet two unique identities. The front living room is more formal, with a seating area set up for entertaining by the fire with a cocktail. The family room has a more casual vibe with a large sectional and sculptural furnishings to add some interest.”
The office features a DGI-designed desk fabricated by Lincolnshire Furniture beneath a Sola fan light by Kichler.
The Outcome
“It goes without saying that capturing the beauty of this home wouldn’t have been possible without the dynamic team that the homeowner hired to build, design and furnish this project,” shares Lux Design Group principal designer Erika Conway of the collaborative effort of the process. “The synergy between the teams was extremely prevalent throughout each phase.” Sums up Wegman, “Our client loves their new home. They feel like we really identified their personal style and brought it to life in the house.”
The dining room charms with Luke Lamp Co.’s Surrey III rod suspension light, Dunns double table pedestal table and Ross side chairs (all by Kravet Inc.), and a striking floor covering by Oscar Isberian Rugs.
