How did you get started with David E. Adler? The last step to complete my interior design degree was the typical requirement of an internship. After meeting with David Adler, I was excited about the opportunity to work at the showroom. Within the first month, I was totally obsessed with rugs and the process of finding each client the perfect one. I was totally hooked from then on!

Please describe your new role and any new plans you have for the showroom. While my responsibilities haven’t changed dramatically, I’ve enjoyed collaborating more with the team and branching out by trying new ways of doing things, from how we showcase rugs to the inventory we purchase. We all have our own unique perspectives so discussing everyone’s view on different aspects of the business has offered both positive change and growth to the business in a myriad of ways. It’s been great to mix things up and see how positively our clients have reacted to our changes.

What’s it like to work with your husband? There is never a dull moment! Between our different personalities, backgrounds and ways of thinking, the ideas are endless. It’s exciting to add someone new to the mix to offer a new perspective on the business, from the rugs we select to the mundane back office work. I always enjoy hearing what he comes up with after collaborating with different members of our team. New ideas are always a great way to test the waters and see what else can work for or add to the business.

Do you foresee any trends for this year? I see so many great creations coming our way. We can expect a mix of cheerful rugs, unique patterns and a mix of the old with the new. There are so many amazingly talented rug designers out there creating fantastic textures, using uncommon color combinations and creating fresh interpretations based on the classics that we’re all so familiar with. I would tell you to expect the unexpected. It’s an exciting time in the rug business!

Do you have a favorite product or design? Oh no. I will never have a simple answer to this question. It’s impossible to have a favorite type of rug when you see so many beautiful rugs on a daily basis. I have a true appreciation of this art form and all of the work involved in creating each piece. Truly, I feel like a kid in a candy store every time I walk through the door.

What’s next? We’ll keep doing what we do best—rugs! Our main focus has always been and will always continue to be superior customer service combined with an assortment of rug styles to please each client, from tone-on-tone neutrals to rugs that color outside the lines.
