With an inherent passion for architecture and design, Mark Candelaria founded his eponymous studio in 1999 with the goal of helping clients build their dream homes nationwide. Now in its 23rd year of operation, the award-winning Candelaria Design Associates led by Mark Candelaria AIA, Meredith Thomson AIA, Tim Mathewson and Evelyn Jung have completed more than 1,000 projects and boasts a client roster dotted with a few big names— including professional golfer Tom Lehman, future hall of famer Larry Fitzgerald, and singer John Fogerty. This year, the luxury architectural firm continues to expand their personalized design services and inspired lifestyle offerings.

Specializing in residential and boutique architecture, Candelaria Design offers a highly collaborative design experience for the most discerning clientele. They ensure each homeowner’s vision comes to fruition by closely coordinating with the builders, interiors, landscapers and other industry experts to create an exceptional home. “We want to make the experience of designing a home one that inspires and elevates all aspects of the clients’ life,” says Candelaria.

This client-centered approach has garnered the firm several notable awards including Gold Nugget Home of the Year by Pacific Builders Council, Luxe Red Awards and Master of the Southwest.

Candelaria and his team regularly work alongside businesses in their hometown of Scottsdale, Arizona. Two notable local projects: the 1930s restaurant-turned-landmark El Chorro Lodge bordering Paradise Valley’s Camelback Mountain and the Enchantment Resort based near Sedona’s Boynton Canyon. As well designing the first fully-livable, 3D-printed home in America for Habitat for Humanity last year. The team also keeps their sights set on exciting international opportunities, and has created residencies in Canada, Jamaica and Mexico.

Candelaria takes his commitment to enhancing clients’ lifestyles beyond just designing their homes. Mark also creates immersive experiences in culture, fine dining and travel. He curates and hosts group travel tours to noted culinary and design destinations like Spain, Italy, and Oregon Wine Country, and partners with local chefs to host live cooking classes.
