“Sliding glass doors that fully open out to the back porch keeps all the entertaining spaces connected,” shares Owen Group’s Brelan Owen Pearson. “The porch has screens that come down to close it in if needed.”

When setting their sights on building their forever home, Houston-based couple chose the lush environs of lauded gated resort community in Austin, Spanish Oaks. With entertaining top of mind (for friends and family, including their two grown children), the duo enlisted the brilliant expertise of design team, Vanguard Studio and interiors firm, Owen Group. “The client wanted this house to feel calm and be a fabulous place for entertaining and to host her charity events,” shares Tami Owen of the need to have state-of-the-art offerings, including a killer outdoor space that opens completely into the main living room. “The catering kitchen was important to her, and is used often.” Speaking of gaming: the husband and wife are huge pickleball and mahjong players. Another key element was marrying a mix of new design with unique pieces sourced over time. “The homeowners have traveled to and lived in many countries for the husband’s career,” shares Owen. The couple has lived in exotic spots including Singapore and Dubai where they have acquired several treasures throughout the years. “They have collected special pieces from all over the world. It was fun integrating them with newer items in the home. I love that all of her pieces tell stories of their travels.” With the buzzy citylife of downtown minutes away yet nestled in the private oasis of Spanish Oaks, this new home offers the ultimate entree into the family’s new adventures ahead.
