Homeowners and husband-and-wife attorneys with two young children tapped Jenn Feldman of L.A.-based Jenn Feldman Designs (jennfeldmandesigns.com) to update the heart of their home while still retaining the 80-year-old abode’s original charm. “This was the first kitchen we designed with the majority of walls being open space and no upper cabinets,” notes Feldman. “This was right off the Athena Calderone [interior designer and founder of EyeSwoon] kitchen explosion, so our client was very inspired by her palette.” Feldman utilized brass and wood accents, off-black and blue hues, and high-veining marble throughout.

Satin-hued faucets from Newport Brass (newportbrass.com), statement sconces from Visual Comfort (visualcomfort.com) and Farrow & Ball (farrow-ball.com) paint in Railing are only a few of the chic designer touches. Other standout pieces include the bespoke white-oak cantilever table and matching L-shaped shelves, while the drop-down ceiling was a necessary detail born from a plumbing issue.

“We had a huge hiccup trying to add a new bathroom to the second floor,” Feldman admits. The savvy squad created the drop-down ceiling in the kitchen to accommodate the pipes, but were pleasantly surprised with how beautifully it accentuated Feldman’s design.

Another challenge? Getting all of the shelving into the stone backsplash was tricky, but “in the end [it] created such beautiful harmony and balance throughout,” according to Feldman. The tiniest elements make the room, such as the 6-inch cord found on the table lamp. “I am the ‘mommy dearest’ of cords,” the designer jokes. “I took the lamp to our shop and had the cord cut.” This extreme attention to detail—not to mention careful curation and a serious eye for design— culminated in this family’s stunning new kitchen, perfect for entertaining, everyday life and so much more.
