Houston-based interior designer Mary Patton is nationally acclaimed for her signature blend of modern aesthetics with vintage charm, creating moments of unexpected beauty in every project she undertakes.
After her daughter was born, Patton ventured into the world of interior design and opened her own firm, Mary Patton Design, in 2013. “Interior design is a great industry where you can be financially successful and creative,” she says. Since opening 10 years ago, the firm has grown organically, and its comprehensive home decor services are in demand now more than ever. With a passion for sourcing and mixing various design ideas, Patton curates elegant yet eclectic interiors that infuse joy into her clients’ daily lives at home.
From residential, new construction and commercial interior design to home and event styling, Patton’s unique design approach has not gone unnoticed. Prestigious publications such as The Wall Street Journal, AD Pro, Forbes and Good Housekeeping have featured the innovative interiors of Mary Patton Design.
At the heart of this designer’s business philosophy lies a deep commitment to her clientele. She believes each project should be as unique as as its inhabitants. Patton’s client-centric approach ensures her work truly reflects the distinct personality and sense of style of those she works with. “If a client trusts me, together, we can accomplish a lot in a short amount of time,” she shares.
Her latest masterpiece is the transformation of a 1920s Tudor home in the Old Braeswood neighborhood of Houston, showcasing Patton’s talent for preserving the character of historic homes while incorporating modern functionality and flair. She is continuing her collaboration with the same client on their additional home in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
“Good design is not about a high price point,” Patton reminds her clientele. “It is about talent, editing and understanding the ‘why’ [behind a project].” Thanks to her keen eye for detail and love for a creative challenge, Mary Patton consistently crafts visually stunning spaces with a personal touch.
Looking ahead, Mary Patton Design will expand its Houston storefront’s offerings by introducing custom furniture designs.
