THE CLIENT

Homeowners wanting to live in a prestigious neighborhood. Located in the heart of the esteemed Paradise Valley, in the shadow of Camelback Mountain, the home’s placement cannot be beat. “Th is charming neighborhood is one of the finest places to live in all of the Grand Canyon State,” says principal designer Laura Kehoe of Laura Kehoe Design. “Green grass and tree-lined streets give Paradise Valley an oasis feel in the middle of the desert.”

THE PRIORITY

To make their new home, although not as large as their last, feel just as spacious. Maximizing the space they had was the main goal. High vaulted ceilings with exposed dark wood make rooms such as the master feel exceptionally grand. Large windows throughout let in the bright Arizona sun, blending the home with the outdoors and giving it an even more open feel. The priority was to make this home more spacious to fit the clients’ lifestyle, and after one step into the house its roominess is apparent.

THE CHALLENGE

A move-in-ready home. Upon beginning the design process, the home was ready for its residents. “We had a wonderfully remodeled home that just needed all the furnishings, so really the only challenge was in the timeline,” explains Kehoe. She wanted her clients in their dream home as quickly as possible, while satisfying their design dreams. Time frames are often tough to manage, but the design of this home feels as if it was curated through years of work.

THE STRATEGY

To keep the materials and furniture within the home local, in order to complete the home design swiftly. Much of the furniture and accent pieces were locally sourced. Travel to the great room and find a one-of-a-kind, handmade bar. Designed by Ross Burkhardt in walnut, the piece holds wine, liquor and stemware. “This investment piece was worth the price tag since it sits as a showpiece in the living room and is also extremely usable to entertain,” says Kehoe. Accent pieces and a desk from local-gem store Urbana complete the house as well.

THE DETAILS

Is unmatched. Tasteful Ralph Lauren brass light fixtures were used as a “jumping-off point” and pop against the dark blues and browns of the home. Impressively crafted chandeliers dangle in the dining area and the marvelous master bedroom. The Ralph Lauren feel of the home is accentuated through the crisp white walls and the beautiful navy kitchen cabinetry. And finally, to make the elegantly simple home pop, wallpaper was laid on the dining room ceiling, in the bathrooms and around the fireplace. “I personally love the feel of the master bedroom,” says Kehoe. “With its separate seating area, wood beams and fireplace there is nothing missing.”

THE OUTCOME

A fresh new spin on a traditional home. “Coming from a traditional Tuscan-style home, they were looking for a new, refreshing residence,” says Kehoe. “What they got was perfect for their needs: a layered and elegant home that is designed to be comfortable and lived in.”
