Elegance abounds in this new-fashioned manse tucked in the heart of Dallas’ Old Preston Hollow neighborhood. “Modern Parisian decor was what we were aiming for with this remodel,” shares Terra McNutt, who led the charge on the five-bedroom, 5 ½-bath reno. She, alongside her team at RI Studio, worked meticulously to maintain the rich heritage behind the home while also adding a certain je ne sais quoi. “We wanted to respect the traditional history (i.e., the original fireplace cover) and keep the see-through fireplace that separated the dining and family rooms and all of the surrounding windows,” says McNutt. “This really set the tone for the rest of the home. Plaster finishes, brass accents and contemporary crystal lighting help blend the modern style with Parisian flair.” Enlisting the expertise of SHM Architects and Atrium Fine Homes, the 6,100-square-foot space was transformed into the dream setting for this family of five.

Approaching the home remodel with the client’s desired aesthetic in mind, the design team pulled together a whimsical mix of contemporary edginess with a traditional feel. This meant adding state-of-the-art cabinetry, clean lines and iron railings paired with antiques, including the use of the original fireplace enclosure. “The old-world feel brings charm, character and a story to this home,” says McNutt. And charm the home certainly possesses, in spades.

Upon walking through the grand entryway, one is met with unique burnished brass chandeliers among other carefully curated details. “We tried to create a separation of spaces with the tile-to-wood transition,” says McNutt. “It is a very open floor plan now, and we needed to establish a formal entry.” Equally as grandiose is the dining room, featuring two stately chandeliers by Suzanne Kasler. Settle in for a multicourse meal or opt to pop by for a glass of vino from the custom wine room. The homeowners love to entertain and also own a family vineyard in Lubbock, Reddy Vineyards, so having a site-specific room felt like the perfect move.

Each room in the home provokes both excitement and conversation, which is precisely the scene that is set upon arrival. From the unique furnishings to the magnificent works of art, every detail has been met to Parisian perfection.
