Chicago - Owners of Simeone Deary Design Group
Describe what you do. LS: We are purveyors of experiences. Our focus is on creating experiential environments that evoke emotion to touch and transform the lives of those who use them.
What has been the key to your success? GD: I have learned how important it is to stand up for my ideas and fight for what I believe will make each project successful.
How would you describe your aesthetic? LS: I gravitate toward bold gestures, lots and lots of texture, a good amount of layering and some bit of whimsy or a good, unexpected twist.
Who are some of your favorite “secret” sources for projects? GD: People are my greatest secret source. To me, thoughtful collaboration with fellow artists and creatives is the greatest source of inspiration.
Wallpaper or paint? LS: Wallpaper. I have always loved it, and it just gets better and better. GD: Paint. I would rather design with interior architecture than rely on applied finishes to create drama.
Antique or modern? GD: I lean toward modern, but always try to balance the two in a way that feels layered and unique.
What do you wish more of your clients understood? LS: How much heart we put into their project. We eat, sleep and breathe their projects. GD: Transformative and personalized designs have the power to shape the guest experience, but they require collaboration, thoughtful intent and confidence in us as designers.
