Take one glance at this property and you will instantly fall in love with its uberchic contemporary aesthetic. Then, take a look around the neighborhood and you will realize you’re in one of Dallas’ most prestigious and acclaimed neighborhoods.

Nestled in University Park’s famed Volk Estates, this stunning property is perched on an oversized lot. For this Dallas couple, entertaining is one key element that was top of mind while designing the space. Working with repeat clients was Stocker Hoesterey Montenegro Architects founding principal and designer Mark Hoesterey, who helped transform these dreams into a reality. “We balanced a very different aesthetic within the traditional estates,” shares Hoesterey. “The trick is that you can do a different style of architecture if you respect the street.”

Hoesterey certainly mastered this secret trick as the end result was the perfect blend of a modernized manse surrounded by lush greens and sweeping views—a true treasure to have within a buzzy city. The design team helped highlight outdoor elements within the interiors in order to bring the best of both worlds under one roof.

Pulling inspiration from his travels to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, Hoesterey wanted guests to have a wow moment upon first entering the property. “All of the houses are guarded on the street there, but as you open the doors, you are completely surprised,” he says. “This big idea for this was as you approach the house you are unaware of the surprise factor. You are met with a great outdoor space with big open sky.” Enlisting lift and slide doors and sky frames, the home truly marries a mix of indoor and outdoor connection.

The master retreat, located on the second floor, walks out onto the terrace to offer sweeping views of the verdant surroundings plus the serene pool. “MESA Design did an incredible job complementing the architecture of the home,” says Hoesterey. The clients’ love for outdoor living and entertaining truly shines through every nook and corner of the space—something that is not always perfectly encapsulated in one fell swoop. We even heard that there might be a speakeasy somewhere on the grounds of the space...

With such beauty combined with natural elements that abound, this house is the perfect blend of indoor-outdoor living. Our only question is: When is the next dinner party, and are we invited?
